Emerald-speckled Tree Frog

While camping overnight with my friend Ivan, we heard several tree frogs calling from the trees overhanging a pond. I located the first male who promptly stopped calling once I shone my light on him. It was an emerald-speckled tree frog (Litoria peroni), well known for its laugh-like calls. The rostrum seemed shorter than the hylids I was used to in the New World tropics, and the skin was rough in appearance though moist to the touch. Immediately, the bright emerald speckles caught my eye, shimmering weakly against the frog’s contrasting golden brown skin.

Photographed after disturbance [4]

The frog’s armpits and underside of the legs are bright yellow or orange, and the eyes have a characteristic cross-shaped pupil with silver irises.
Still, after watching the third male calling, I was not able to get a photo with the vocal sac inflated
