A young jacky dragon (Amphibolurus muricatus) basks in the afternoon sun, tilting its head up to make eye contact with me every time I step a bit closer. In a short hike we were able to see other classic Australian fauna including a short-beaked echidna (Tachyglossus aculeatus) waddling along the path, a white-bellied sea eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster) looming overhead, and a family of eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus) feeding on grasses along with two red-necked wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus).
