A cute and slender Lesser Sunda Bronzeback (Dendrelaphis inornatus) we found high in the trees of Komodo island. Bronzebacks are arboreal and diurnal snakes with a quick and flighty disposition. They are small and thin, mostly feeding on skinks, geckos, and frogs. Most of our encounters with bronzebacks during the day were only fleeting glimpses, and at night we could spot them as bright yellow ribbons draped on top of branches. This species also has beautiful turquoise specks between the scales, only visible when the snake inflates the body.
