I drove back from my field site early last night since there was a storm approaching. On the way I saw my first pygopod, the adorable burton’s legless lizard (Lialis burtonis), and helped unblind a water python (Liasis fuscus) with a large tick firmly embedded underneath the supraocular scale. It turns out the storm just missed the area, but the wetlands were being lit up constantly by the distant thunderstorm and bits of lightning leaked through the cloud cover.
