Rusa Deer & Wild Boar on Komodo Island

Rusa deer (Cervus timorensis) and wild boar (Sus scrofa vittatus) could be seen foraging along the shoreline on Komodo island, keeping a close eye on any nearby dragons. Funnily enough, Komodo dragons avoid actually entering seawater, so wounded animals will often retreat into the shallow waves while dragons wait patiently by the shore. Sometimes though they will enter the water to finish off prey.

All dragons and mammals photographed in situ [1]
