A pregnant lioness (Panthera leo) gives a penetrating stare after awoken from her deep slumber. Two other female lions were present nearby last night, one of which made a brief and curious approach to our vehicle. Observing them was such an overwhelming and emotional experience for me. My previous two cat sightings were only fleeting glimpses of a puma and a jaguarundi, so it was spectacular to see these cats strolling around with their lumbering gait. My right leg didn’t cease shaking from excitement during the encounter, but here are a couple of photos that didn’t come out as blurry 🙂
