Three northern yellow-faced turtles (Emydura tanybaraga) crossed the dam wall yesterday afternoon. The first turtle (pictured here) froze and let me sit down next to it for about 10 minutes before clambering along, and the other two made a rapid dash to the water as soon as I got out of my car – outrun by a turtle. The frequency of showers has increased significantly in the past week, and herp activity is on the rise.
